Lug ins Land (Marloffstein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lug ins Land (colloquially: Lūchinsland ) is a desert in the municipality of Marloffstein in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

location

The former wasteland was on the Marloffsteiner Höhe ( 365  m above sea level ) about 0.5 km northwest of Marloffstein. Today there is a former clay pit in its place, which is designated as a geotope . The road Lug ins Land commemorates the community part.

history

The place was first mentioned in a map entry from 1854 as "Lug in's Land". Luginsland was a common name for a place where you had a wide view of the country on all sides, which is also true for this place on the Marloffsteiner Höhe. The Erlangen factory owner Karl von Loewenich had bought several days' work of land from the Marloffstein tax community in order to build his country estate with a park there. In 1865 the name Lug ins Land was officially approved. In 1964, Lug insland had to make way for the expansion of the clay pit. The only inhabited property was also demolished a few years later. In 1982, the Lug ins Land part of the municipality was considered extinct.
