Schneckenhof (colloquially: Schnegŋhṓf ) is a district of the municipality of Marloffstein in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

The wasteland is immediately surrounded by arable land and grassland. A local road runs 0.5 km south to Adlitz . About 0.5 km to the east are the Lower and Middle Swan Pond . Behind it is a wooded area. Langensendelbach is located 0.75 km northeast of Schneckenhof.

history

Schneckenhof was probably created during the remainder of the distribution of the land by clearing the forest around 1100 to 1200. The place was first mentioned in documents in 1318. The qualifier of the name, the pet name snail be, or else the family Schneck . In the first case this would refer to a moist soil in the figurative sense, in the second case the name of the farm owner would be decisive. A description from 1540 shows that the Ganzhof included 36 acres of fields, 3 acres of ponds, 12 days of meadow and pasture and forest.

The bishopric of Bamberg held the feudal lordship over Schneckenhof . Originally the place was in the hands of the Lords of Spardorf . Gottfried von Brauneck bought the tithes of Bräuningshof , Atzelsberg and Schneckenhof from Seibot von Spardorf , which in 1332 was appropriated to Neunkirchen am Brand for the salvation of his soul . Documents from the years 1499, 1601 and 1603 respectively show that the monastery still received the tithe. In 1339 the Nuremberg patricians Ulrich and Peter Haller were fiefs of the whole court. 1370 Nuremberg citizens Konrad devil donated one for himself and his descendants Seelgerät that for the Lady altar of Sebalduskirche was determined. For this purpose, taxes were also used by "Sneckenhof", which was still the case in 1535. In the following period - expressly attested for 1548 - the Sebaldic levies were administered by the Nuremberg State Almosis Office. In 1552 the place was sacked as a result of the Second Margrave War . The high and lower court was exercised by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberamt Baiersdorf , which was also claimed by the Bamberg Centamt Neunkirchen . In 1742 the whole courtyard was divided into two half courtyards.

On May 1, 1978, Schneckenhof was incorporated into the municipality of Marloffstein as part of the regional reform .

The place was originally purely Catholic and is parish to St. Peter and Paul (Langensendelbach) to this day . The inhabitants of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination are parish to St. Nikolaus (Baiersdorf) .
