Langensendelbach is a municipality in the Forchheim district ( Upper Franconia administrative district ).

Geographical location
Langensendelbach is about nine kilometers south of Forchheim and seven kilometers north of Erlangen .

history
Until the 19th century
Langensendelbach was one of the 14 places that came to the Bamberg diocese in 1007 through Heinrich II . Langensendelbach was first mentioned by name as a gift to the Bamberg diocese in a document dated July 13, 1062. The Augustinian monastery in Neunkirchen am Brand was the parish for the community until 1709. From 1500 the village was part of the Franconian Empire . The affiliation to the bishopric of Bamberg ended with the secularization in 1803. The place has belonged to Bavaria since that time.
20th and 21st centuries
On April 11, 1979, a phantom fighter of the Bundeswehr crashed in Bräuningshof. The crew and one resident died. Two others were seriously injured.
Outsourcing
On May 1, 1978, parts of the area with more than 600 inhabitants (Igelsdorf) were ceded to the city of Baiersdorf in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district .

The description of the coat of arms reads: A golden key and an overturned golden sword crossed diagonally in red, above a silver flower, underneath a growing golden abbot's staff.
Buildings
The parish church of St. Peter and Paul of the Catholic parish can already be seen from the Marloffstein pass . It was built in the Art Nouveau style in the early 20th century and has baroque pieces from the previous church (altars, pulpit, tower). The church is equipped with a high altar, a St. Mary's grotto made of Franconian tuff, two side altars and a Steinmeyer organ (II / 21; 1932).

Langensendelbach is part of the greater Nuremberg area . The nearest train station is about three kilometers away in Baiersdorf or in Bubenreuth on the Nuremberg – Bamberg railway line . Bus routes 256 and 208 of Omnibusverkehr Franken (OVF) go to Baiersdorf . Bus line 208 also goes to Erlangen. A collective call taxi operates in the district at night and on weekends . The next motorway junctions are Baiersdorf-Nord and Möhrendorf on the A 73 Nuremberg - Bamberg .
