Luis Héctor Cristaldo Ruiz Díaz (born August 31, 1969 in Formosa , Argentina ) is a former Bolivian football player who was mostly used in central defense .

Life

Cristaldo was born in Formosa in 1969. At the age of 15 he moved to Santa Cruz de la Sierra , Bolivia. There his first youth club was the Tahuichi Academy. At the age of 18 he made his debut in the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano .

Club career

Cristaldo played in the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano between 1988 and 1998 . He was Bolivian champion four times, including once in 1990 with Oriente Petrolero from Santa Cruz de la Sierra and in 1994, 1996 and 1997 with Club Bolívar from La Paz . In 1994 he was loaned to the Argentine association Textil Mandiyú . In 1998 he moved to Spain to join Sporting Gijón . A year later he moved to Paraguay to Club Cerro Porteño . In 2001 he returned home and played in the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano until 2011.

National team

Cristaldo made his debut for the national team on September 10, 1989 in a qualifier for the World Cup against Uruguay . The game was lost 2-0. At the soccer world championship in 1994 he was used twice. Between 1989 and 2005 he made a total of 93 international matches and scored five goals.
