Luise Charlotte, Duchess of Mecklenburg [-Schwerin] (born November 19, 1779 in Schwerin , † January 4, 1801 in Gotha ) was hereditary duchess of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg by marriage .

Luise Charlotte was the eldest daughter of Duke Friedrich Franz I of Mecklenburg , who later became the first Grand Duke of Mecklenburg in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin region . Her mother was Luise , a born princess of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg.

First briefly engaged to the Swedish King Gustav IV Adolf in 1795 , she married Hereditary Duke August von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg in 1797 . Since her mother came from the same family as her husband, she and her husband shared great-grandparents in Duke Friedrich II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and his wife.

Luise Charlotte died before her husband ascended the ducal throne in Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg in 1804. With this she had a daughter Luise von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg (1800-1831), who later married Duke Ernst I of Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld .
