Live and act

Luise Deicher was born on April 6, 1891 as the daughter of August Deicher and Sofie Luise. Born in Ulm. Her father studied engineering in Munich and was involved in the construction of the first transcontinental railroad in America. He had fought in the American Civil War and was an American citizen. In 1880 he returned to Germany as a wealthy man and started a family with Sofie Luise, 36 years his junior. They had six children. A brother of Luise drowned when Luise was 12 years old. A second brother took his own life three years later because he felt guilty for his brother's death.

Luise's talent for drawing was already indicated in school and her drawing teacher recommended that parents visit the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. Her father was open-minded and gave permission for artistic training. Luise Deicher began her art studies at the Stuttgart Art Academy in 1908 and, after completing her basic studies, received lessons from Gustav Igler . From 1910 to 1913 she was in Adolf Hölzel's class , after which she was a master class student of his successor Heinrich Altherr until 1917 .

In Stuttgart she set up a studio and also taught there. Her work could be seen at regional and national works shows and in 1914 she received the silver medal of the Stuttgart Academy for outstanding achievements. She made designs for glass pictures and murals , painted still lifes and portraits . She toured Europe with her friend Hermann Dreifus, who committed suicide in 1941 to avoid deportation. After the Second World War, she moved to the Großbottwartal with her brother Karl and painted many portraits.
