Luiz Felipe Lampreia

Luiz Felipe Palmeira Lampreia (born October 19, 1941 in Rio de Janeiro ; † February 2, 2016 there ) was a Brazilian diplomat and foreign minister .

Life

Luiz Felipe Lampreia is the son of João Gracie Lampreia. In 1961 he graduated from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro . He entered the foreign service on November 7, 1963. From 1977 to 1979 he was in charge of public relations at the ministry. In 1979 he was Counselor and Chargé d'affaires in Washington, DC From 1979 to 1981, he was the replacement director for Special Drawing Rights for the Brazilian government at the Inter-American Development Bank . From October 10, 1983 to 1984 he was ambassador to Paramaribo . In 1985 he was representative of the Brazilian government at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva . From 1988 to 1990 he headed the bilateral policy department. In 1992 he was ambassador to Lisbon . From 1992 to 1993 he was Secretary General of the Ministry. In mid-1993 he was Foreign Minister in the government of Itamar Franco . From 1995 to January 12, 2001 he was Foreign Minister in the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso . Since his retirement he has been a member of the teaching staff of the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM-Rio).
