Lukarda (Buchau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lukarda (* before 1200, † after 1215 ) was the ninth abbess of the free worldly Buchau women's monastery in what is now Bad Buchau am Federsee .

After the election of Gertrud von Tegerfelden in 1212, a “Marcoaldus comes” appeared as Lukarda's advocate when the election was challenged before the Holy See . In the literature, this Marcoaldus comes is equated with the Buchauer Vogt at the time, "Marquard von Veringen". Lukarda could also have been related to the Veringen nobility . Lukarda was elected by a minority of four fellow sisters. The subsequent contestation of the election was supported by the Bishop of Basel and the abbots of the monasteries of Neuburg and Pairis as well as the provost of the Truttenhausen monastery. Pope Innocent III The former guardian of the Hohenstaufen emperor Friedrich II, who had ruled since 1212, and one of the most important popes of the Middle Ages, finally confirmed Lukarda, who was then abbess until 1216.
