Luke Fagan

Luke Fagan (* 1656 in Licbla ; † November 11, 1733 ) was an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman, Bishop of Meath and Archbishop of Dublin .

Life

He was ordained a priest in 1680 by the Bishop of Meath James Cusack .

Luke Fagan was called to Bishop of Meath on September 15, 1713. On February 18, 1714, Ambrose MacDermott OP , the Bishop of Elphin , gave him episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrator was Hugh MacDermot , Bishop of Achonry .

On September 14, 1729 he was elected Archbishop of Dublin, he took office with papal confirmation on September 24, 1729.

During his tenure , he consecrated some priests from the Netherlands , including the later Old Catholic Archbishop of Utrecht, Petrus Johannes Meindaerts .
