Lume Tshälthrim Sherab ( Tib. Klu mes tshul khrims shes rab ) was one of the "ten monks from Ü and Tsang " of Tibetan Buddhism ordained by Lachen Gongpa Rabsel ( bla chen dgongs pa rab gsal ) , which continued the line of tradition that also the 13th Dalai Lama and the current 14th  Dalai Lama , the Buddhist monk Tendzin Gyatsho , who are also holders of this ordination line. Lume is considered to be the revivor of Buddhism.

The year 978 is usually considered to be the beginning of the Later Propagation of the Doctrine ( bstan pa phyi dar ) in Tibetan Buddhism .

Drumer Tshälthrim Chungne , a student of Lume Tshälthrim Sherab, founded the Thangpoche Monastery ( thang po che ) in the Yarlung Valley in 1017 , formerly a monastery of the Kadam School, the first Sarma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism , which later became a Gelugpa monastery was in Qonggyai County (Chongyye) of Shannan County (Lhokha) in the south of Tibet Autonomous Region .

Lume died on the way to this monastery.

“As King Glang dar ma in the 9th century destroyed the Buddhist teaching, sTod lung pa Mar Sakya mu ne, Bo dong pa gYo dGe 'byung and gTsang Rab gsal went to Dan thig in Amdo and led there together with the two Chinese monks (Hva San) Kevan and Gyivan according to the special regulation for the remote regions, only five of them perform full ordination for the famous Bla chen dGong pa rab gsal (952-1035). In 978 Bla chen dGong pa rab gsal in turn directed five for Klu mes Tshul khrims shes rab (born 10th century), Lo ston rDo rje dbang phyugs (born 10th century) and others, a total of ten novices gTsang and five from dBus, full ordination to Bhiktsu. This line then spread "successively" back to dBus and gTsang. "
