Lutz Goepel
Lutz Goepel (born October 10, 1942 in Gotha ) was a member of the CDU's European Parliament for Saxony and a member of the board of the European People's Party from 1994 to 2009 .
Life and education
After graduating from high school in 1961, Goepel studied agriculture at the University of Jena and graduated in 1967 as a qualified farmer . Up until 1973 an external study of agricultural engineering followed at the engineering college Berlin-Wartenberg with the degree "Engineer for agricultural engineering " and in 1988 the doctorate to Dr. agr. From 1969 Lutz Goepel worked in agriculture.
politics
After the fall of the Wall, Goepel moved in 1990 for the DBD as a member of the first freely elected People's Chamber . With the merger of the farmers' party and CDU , he became a CDU member.
European Parliament
From 1991 to 1994 he was an observer in the European Parliament, from 1994 to 2009 he was an elected member. 1994 to 1999 and 2004 to 2009 Goepel was a member of the EPP parliamentary group. From 1996 to 2009 he was chairman of the agriculture committee.

- Deputy for the Committee on Transport and Tourism
- Member of the Temporary Committee on the Policy Challenges and Budgetary Means of the Enlarged Union 2007–2013
- Deputy for the delegation in the EU- Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee
