Between 1996 and 2004 she was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . From 1999 to 2015 Gräßle was deputy state chairwoman of the Women's Union of Baden-Württemberg and since 2015 state chairwoman. Since 1999 she has been a member of the state board of the CDU Baden-Württemberg. Ingeborg Gräßle was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2019, where she was Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU / CSU group from 2007 to 2014, then chairwoman of the Budgetary Control Committee , of which she was previously the spokesperson for the EPP group . She was also a member of the Committee on Budgets and a member of the delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council. Gräßle decided to run for the EU Parliament again, but was only placed fifth on the state list by the CDU Baden-Württemberg. Since the CDU only received four seats in the European Parliament in the 2019 European elections, Gräßle lost her mandate after 15 years. She then criticized the local CDU for her approach: The first four places on the electoral list were occupied exclusively by men, which, according to her, was unique in all of Europe for this election. In the same interview, she also questioned whether any CDU seat in the European Parliament is occupied by a person with a migration background.
