Lutz Vogel

Lutz Vogel (born April 5, 1949 in Nordhausen ) is a German non-party cultural politician . From 1990 to 2001 he was head of the cultural office and city culture director in Weimar and from 2001 to 2008 first mayor of Dresden. He has been a freelance cultural advisor since 2008.

Life

Lutz Vogel attended schools in Sondershausen , Magdeburg and Oschersleben .

He studied German and English at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . First he worked from 1971 to 1975 as a teacher in Weißensee and Berlin , in 1977 after completing his military service with the NVA , he switched to the Institute for Classical German Literature at the National Research and Memorial Centers for Classical German Literature in Weimar. In 1990 Lutz Vogel was initially head of the cultural office, and from 1992 to 2001 city cultural director in Weimar . 2001-2008 he was in Dresden Councilor for Culture and since 2002 at the suggestion of Mayor Ingolf Rossberg its First Deputy (official title: "First Mayor "). From May 2006 to July 2008 he represented him in office. Since his re-election as an alderman was uncertain, Lutz Vogel resigned from the public service in 2008 and has since worked as a freelance cultural development consultant.

Lutz Vogel is married and has two children.
