Lutz Voigtmann

Lutz Voigtmann (born January 29, 1941 in Krostitz near Delitzsch , † April 1, 1997 in Chemnitz ) was a German painter.

Life

Voigtmann completed an apprenticeship as a decorator and upholsterer at the Central Theater Workshops in Leipzig from 1955 to 1958 . He then gained stage practice at the Stralsund Theater from 1959 to 1960 . From 1960 to 1963 he studied theater painting at the Technical School for Applied Arts in Leipzig, where he made his first oil paintings . From 1963 to 1964 Voigtmann was a stage design assistant at the Landestheater Halle . From 1963 to 1967 he worked at the theater in Meiningen, from 1967 to 1974 at the municipal theater in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz ) as the first painter and later as the director of the painting room.

In 1971 he became a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR (VBK). From 1974 he worked as a freelancer in Karl-Marx-Stadt. In the same year he went on his first study trip to Siberia. He became a member of the central painter and graphic artist section in the Karl-Marx-Stadt district committee of the VBK of the GDR. Further study trips took him to the CSSR, Hungary, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union (Siberia, Transcaucasian and Central Asian Soviet Republics), Iraq and the FRG.

From 1987 to 1988 he suffered from a serious illness and took early retirement. Between 1988 and 1994 he traveled to France, the Netherlands, Italy, Venezuela, Kenya, Tunisia, Thailand, Greece, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Fuerteventura, Cyprus and Mallorca.

Exhibitions

  • Exhibitions in Meiningen, Suhl, Karl-Marx-Stadt, Annaberg, Pasardshik (Bulgaria), Meerane, Brand-Erbisdorf, Berlin, Frankfurt / Oder, Bucharest.
  • Participated in the 7th and 8th art exhibition of the GDR in Dresden. Exhibitions of young art from the GDR in Frankfurt / Oder and Berlin as well as at exhibitions in the USSR, CSSR, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, France and Belgium.
  • 1986 Exhibition in Cologne.
  • 1997 Neue Sächsische Galerie, Chemnitz: Lutz Voigtmann, City and Landscape Portraits 1965–1992 .
