Lutz Winkelmann (born December 24, 1956 in Ilster , district of Soltau ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 2013 to 2017 .

education and profession

Lutz Winkelmann was born on his parents' farm in Ilster. The former FDP MEP Gesine Meißner is his sister. Winkelmann attended school in the neighboring town of Alvern and graduated from high school in Soltau . He then studied law in Munich , Kiel and Göttingen and initially worked for six years as a lawyer in Schneverdingen ; since then he has been working in Munster . He lives on the farm in Ilster, which has been in the family for generations, and has five children. He has been married to the Austrian journalist Susanne Stampf-Sedlitzky since 2015 .

Winkelmann is a partner in MAWASO Agrar-Dienstleistungs-GmbH, chairman of the supervisory board of Waldkonsulting GmbH in Neuenkirchen (Lüneburg Heath) , chairman of the forestry association in Soltau and a member of the board of the Örtze fishing cooperative . Since 1991 he has also been a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Munster-Bispingen GmbH.

Winkelmann has been a councilor for the CDU in Munster since 1991, and council chairman since the 2011 local elections . He is also the mayor of Ilster.

With the list of the CDU direct candidate in the constituency of Soltau for the state election in Lower Saxony in 2013 , Winkelmann was able to prevail within the party against the state parliament member Karl-Ludwig von Danwitz . With 47.8 percent of the first votes, he entered the state parliament in the election on January 20, 2013. In the line-up for the election to the 18th Lower Saxony state parliament , however, he was narrowly defeated by von Danwitz, who had resigned. He left the state parliament in autumn 2017.
