Lux-Development SA , better known as LuxDev , is the agency that implements the development cooperation of the Luxembourg government.

It was founded in 1978 to promote small and medium-sized enterprises in Luxembourg. It has only been focused on development cooperation since 1992. Today the agency is a public limited company ( Société anonyme ), the sole shareholders of which are the Luxembourg State (98%) and the state bank Société nationale de crédit et d'investissement (2%).

LuxDev is based in Luxembourg City , but also has regional offices in Hanoi Vietnam , Pristina ( Kosovo ), Dakar ( Senegal ), Praia ( Cape Verde ), Ouagadougou ( Burkina Faso ) and Managua ( Nicaragua ).

mission

LuxDev handles almost all resources that the government allocates to bilateral development cooperation. The agency can also run programs that are funded by other bilateral donors or the European Commission .

Work areas

Lux-Development takes care of projects and programs in four main areas: local development (agriculture and food security , decentralization and local self-determination, access to safe drinking water and wastewater treatment), education (mainly vocational training ), microfinance and health.

The programs focus on the nine privileged partner countries of Luxembourg cooperation: Burkina Faso , Cape Verde , El Salvador , Laos , Mali , Nicaragua , Niger , Senegal and Vietnam . In addition, Mongolia , Rwanda , Serbia , Montenegro and Kosovo are also supported.

In 2011 LuxDev managed 115 projects and programs and spent a total of 78,323,358 euros .
