Lwowski ( Russian Льво́вский ) is a district of Podolsk in Moscow Oblast . It is located around 20 km south of Moscow's city limits and has 10,855 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). Until 2015 it was an independent urban-type settlement .
The place originated in 1902 as a dacha settlement , which was built near several old villages. One of these villages belonged to the widow of a councilor with the family name Lwow, and so the new settlement was named Lwowski. In 1939, a metal processing factory was built next to the village, which is still the most important company in the settlement today. In 1959 Lwowski was given urban-type settlement status. By order of the governor of Moscow Oblast on July 3, 2015, the incorporation into neighboring Podolsk took place.
Lwowski has a stop ( Lwowskaja ) on the railway line Moscow - Kursk . Local trains coming from Moscow, Podolsk , Chekhov or Serpuchow stop here in close proximity.
