Lyés Mokodel (born June 20, 1990 ) is an Algerian athlete who specializes in the 110-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Lyés Mokodel gained his first international experience in 2008 at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where he was eliminated in the first round with 14.56 s. In the following year he was disqualified at the Junior African Championships in Bambous and then finished sixth in the Arab Championships in Damascus in 14.56 s. In 2010 he took part in the African Championships in Nairobi for the first time , where he finished fifth in 14.11 s. In the following year he reached the semifinals at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen , where he was eliminated with 13.99 seconds, before he then won the bronze medal behind the two Kuwaiti Fawzi al-Ain with 13.80 seconds at the Arab Championships in al-Ain. Shammari and Abdulaziz al-Mandeel . He then finished fourth at the Pan-Arab Games in Doha with 13.81 s. In 2012 he won the bronze medal at the African Championships in Porto-Novo in 13.73 seconds behind the South African Lehann Fourie and the Nigerian Selim Nurudeen .

In 2014 he reached the final at the African Championships in Marrakech , but was disqualified there. The following year he took part for the first time in the Africa Games in Brazzaville and won the silver medal there in 13.49 s behind the South African Antonio Alkana . In 2019 he finished fifth at the Arab Championships in Cairo in 14.25 seconds before he was disqualified in the final at the Africa Games in Rabat .

In 2012, from 2014 to 2016 and 2019, Mokodel was the Algerian champion in the 110-meter hurdles.
