Lyda Lubienė

Lyda Lubienė (born Fiodorovaitė ; * 1957 in Jonava ) is a Lithuanian entrepreneur and chemical engineer of Russian origin. It is a major shareholder of the Lithuanian group Achemos grupė . Lubienė is the richest woman in Lithuania and is the third richest person in Lithuania with an estimated net worth of 470 million euros (2017).

Life

Lyda Fiodorovaitė was the youngest in an Old Orthodox family with one son and five daughters. She graduated from the former Russian 4th Middle School Jonava (now “Santarvės” department of the Neries Secondary School Jonava in the old town of Jonava ), where she was active as a Komsomol secretary. In 1981 Lyda completed her diploma in chemical technology at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Politechnik Institute in Kaunas and became a chemical engineer . From 1981 she worked in the Soviet Lithuanian chemical plant " Azotas ". There she became a shift supervisor and then a desk dispatcher for the central control. There she met her boss, the then chief engineer Bronislovas Lubys (1938–2011). A closer acquaintance with the then divorced boss arose after an ecological accident in 1989.

In 1992, Fiodorovaitė and Lubys, then Prime Minister of Lithuania, married . They had their daughter Viktorija Lubytė (* 1998). It has 11.63% of the Group's shares (estimated at around EUR 115 million; 2017). After Lubys' death, Jūratė Žadeikienė, Lubys daughter from their first marriage, inherited large shares in the group. In 2012, she and her daughter's fortune was estimated at 465 million litas (or 134 million euros).

Cigarette scandal

On January 8, 2013, Lydia Lubienė was stopped by the customs office at Vilnius Airport with cigarettes without sleeves (flight from Switzerland) . It turned out that the woman was carrying 760 pieces (38 packs) of Kent cigarettes in her luggage without banderoles. In addition, Lubienė involved in a dispute with the customs officers and even threatened them ("You will come with journalists tomorrow and they will be bad"). Lubienė was fined 3,000 litas (≈870 €) for violating the law (administrative offense).
