Bronislovas Lubys
Bronislovas Lubys (born October 8, 1938 in Plungė , † October 23, 2011 in Druskininkai ) was a Lithuanian industrialist and businessman , politician (Prime Minister of Lithuania), chemical engineer , richest Lithuanian .
biography
After graduating from high school, Lubys graduated from the Kauno politechnikos institutas (KPI) with a PhD in chemistry . He was a senior engineer at the Azotas chemical plant in Jonava for many years . For a short time he was Prime Minister of Lithuania. For several years he also headed the Lithuanian Industry Association (LPK). From 1983 to 1991 he taught at the KPI. From 1992 to 1993 he headed the Lubys cabinet . Bronislavas Lubys withdrew from politics and then headed the Achemos group , of which he was the main shareholder with 51%.
Along with Juozas Kazickas , Nerijus Numavičius and Wladimir Romanow, Lubys was considered the richest and most influential entrepreneur in Lithuania.
Lubys made donations to many Lithuanian parties during the elections, financed many events and construction works in Jonava and Plungė.
family
From 1981 Lyda Lubienė (* 1957 as Lyda Fiodorovaitė ) worked in the Soviet-Lithuanian chemical plant Azotas as a shift supervisor and then desk dispatcher for the central control. There she met the senior engineer Bronislovas Lubys, who was her supervisor at the time. A closer acquaintance with her divorced boss came about after an ecological accident in 1989. In 1992 Fiodorovaitė and Lubys, who at that time was Prime Minister of Lithuania, married. They had their daughter Viktorija Lubytė (* 1998). After the death of the husband and father, both inherited large shares of the company together with Jūratė Žadeikienė (Luby's daughter from the first marriage).
Foundation, endowment
In memory of Lubys' activities, the “Dr. Bronislovas Lubys Foundation “(lit. Dr. Bronislovo Lubio vardo labdaros ir paramos fondas ) was founded on April 17th, 2013 in Vilnius . The leader is Giedrė Žentelytė-Linkienė.
