Juozas Petras Kazickas

Juozas kazickas (* 16th April 1918 in Tschjornaja Padina , Saratov province , Russia; † 10. July 2014 in the United States ) was a Lithuanian entrepreneurs , business consultants , self-made - billionaire , philanthropist and patron.

Education and emigration

In 1937 Juozas Kazickas graduated from Petras Vileišis Commercial School in Pasvalys and then studied economics at Vilnius University , where he also met his wife Aleksandra. In 1942 he finished his studies and went into business. In 1944 he emigrated to Germany, then to the USA. In 1951 Juozas Kazickas received his PhD from Yale University . He was scientifically active, advised companies and was involved in the activities of the Lithuanian emigrant organizations. Later he went into trading in oil and mineral resources. After years of emigration, he returned to Lithuania and started a brisk business activity.

Activity in Lithuania

In 1991, Kazickas founded Litcom (now Omnitel ), which has invested over LTL 1 billion in Lithuania . When it was later sold to the Scandinavian TeliaSonera , Kazickas earned around USD 0.5 billion .

Kazickas advised several American corporations such as Philip Morris , Coca-Cola and Motorola that wanted to gain a foothold in Lithuania, including the scandal-ridden investor Williams , who returned to the USA after a few years in business. Philip Morris alone estimated the value of Kazickas' advisory assistance at $ 250,000. (Although there was actually no consulting contract).

Kazickas' assets in 2006 were over LTL 1 billion, according to Veidas magazine . A foundation set up by Kazickas that Dr. Juozo P. Kazicko fondas , supported the program “School of Information Society”, Lithuanian Olympic Movement, the National Committee and Lithuanian Olympians. In 2000 Kazickas supported the renovation of the way to Golgotha in Jerusalem. In the same year he became a laureate of the Verslo šlovės galerija (Gallery of Lithuanian Economy).
