Vladimir Nikolayevich Romanov ( lithuanian Vladimiras Roma Novas , Russian Владимир Николаевич Романов * 1947 in Wedernikowo , Oblast Kalinin , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian - Lithuanian former businessman , banker, financier and investor in various countries in the Balkans and the Baltics .

Vladimir Romanov was the main shareholder and chairman of the board of the Ūkio banko investicinė grupė (iokio bankas investment group) (ŪBIG) and was the chairman of the board of an insolvent private bank " Ūkio bankas ".

His fortune was estimated at 370 million euros, according to the Spiegel journalist Volker Gulde at 400–800 million euros. But in 2012 he declared debts of Lt 238.5 million to the tax office, which would have exceeded his assets by Lt 58 million.

The businessman has a good reputation in Kaunas, his place of residence, because he is known for his charity. With his donations he makes a valuable contribution to the cultural life of the city, supports several humanitarian projects: he was actively involved in the restoration of the Russian Orthodox Church, he donates to the Russian Children's Cultural Center and takes talented artists under his wing.

From 1965 to 1970 Vladimir Romanov did his military service in the Soviet Army in Murmansk in the naval fleet, mostly on a nuclear submarine , the K-19 . He invested the saved 10,000 rubles in Kaunas and founded his first company in 1972. In 2006 he acquired the K-19 submarine, which had been decommissioned and cleared for scrapping.

Later, Vladimir Romanov bought shares in Lithuanian industrial companies such as " Koton ", " AB Silva " and the Lithuanian industrial giant " Dirbtinis pluoštas ". All companies later went bankrupt, which is why criminal proceedings were initiated against Romanov.

Vladimir Romanov then invested in the Balkans, where he founded an investment bank Balkan Investment Bank AD and investment company Balkan Investment Management AD .

Sports

Vladimir Romanov also owns some football clubs , such as the Scottish Heart of Midlothian in Edinburgh and FBK Kaunas , and holds the majority in Partizan Minsk . In May 2009 he took over 75% of the basketball club Žalgiris Kaunas .

Vladimir Romanov is married. His only son Roman Romanow sits on the board of “ Hearts ” and coordinates investment activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina , Ms. Svetlana Romanowa is not employed and is not involved in her husband's business.
