Jacky June

Jacky June (actually Jean-Jacques Junne , born April 3, 1924 in Brussels , † September 28, 2012 in Braine-l'Alleud ) was a Belgian jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet ) and band leader .

“Jacky” June learned to play the piano at the age of six; In 1943 he played in Henry Van Bemst's orchestra . After the war he directed his own orchestra in the Hotel Cosmopolite in Brussels ; He also played at the Hot Club de Belgique and with The KOT Jazzmen , which became Jump College in the 1960s . In 1951 he appeared with Roy Eldridge , often in the 1950s at the La Rose Noire jazz club . June, who was stylistically based on Sidney Bechet and Benny Carter , is also on private recordings with Sidney Bechet, René Thomas , Jean Blaton ,Peanuts Holland , Don Byas and Léon Demeuldre documented. In 1965 and probably also in 1967 and 1971 he recorded with the Jump College Orchestra , with which he also performed internationally.
