Lynn Alfred "Lindsay" Williams III (born June 29, 1939 in Evanston ) is a former American sailor .
successes
Lynn Williams, a member of the Chicago Yacht Club , was adopted in the Star class at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in part. Together with Richard Stearns he finished the regatta in second place behind Durward Knowles and Cecil Cooke of the Bahamas and in front of the Swedes Pelle Petterson and Holger Sundström , which they received the silver medal. At world championships , Williams placed on the podium twice in the Starboot: in 1962 he became world champion with Stearns in Cascais and took third place with him four years later in Kiel . In 1960 Williams also won the North American championships.
He studied at the University of Chicago and then worked as an engineer . His father Herbert Williams was also a sailor, he was Olympic champion in Melbourne in 1956 in the star boat .
