Herbert Philip "Bert" Williams (born July 24, 1908 in Hove , United Kingdom , † January 10, 1990 in Macatawa , Michigan ) was an American sailor .
successes
Herbert Williams took part in the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne with Lawrence Low in the boat class Star . With their boat Kathleen they won two of the seven races and finished the regatta with 5876 total points in first place, making them Olympic champions ahead of the Italian and Bahamian boats . At World Championships in 1944 Williams won the bronze medal on Lake Michigan .
His son Lynn won in the Star class in 1964 in Tokyo , the Olympic silver medal.
