Steven Richard "Steve" Erickson (born August 14, 1961 in Minneapolis ) is a former American sailor .

successes

Steven Erickson took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the Star boat class . Together with William Earl Buchan he was Olympic champion ahead of Joachim Griese and Michael Marcour from Germany and the Italians Giorgio Gorla and Alfio Peraboni . Thanks to, among other things, three wins in a total of seven races and a total of 29.7 points, they received the gold medal. Erickson won five medals at world championships : with Buchan he first secured the bronze medal in Medemblik in 1982 , before the two succeeded in winning the title in Nassau in 1985 . Erickson won bronze with Paul Cayard in Chicago in 1987 and in San Francisco in 1992 and became world champion with him in Buenos Aires in 1988 . He took part in the America's Cup five times , as well as several times in the Sydney-Hobart Regatta and the Whitbread Round the World Race .

Erickson graduated from the University of Washington .
