Michael Marcour (born February 10, 1959 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a former German regatta sailor who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Life

Michael Marcour is an architect and also works as a junior sailing coach.

Sailing career

Michael Marcour, who competed for the Aggertaler sailing club in Gummersbach at the time, sailed as a bow in Erich Hirt's Soling .

From 1982 he was Vorschotmann in the Star boat from Joachim Griese . The two took second place at the 1983 World Championships behind the Spaniards Antonio Gorostegui and José Luis Doreste .

The discharged before Kiel European Championships 1983 as Griese won the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein belonging Alexander Hagen and Vincent Hoesch before Joachim Griese and michael marcour. After Griese and Marcour had won the pre-Olympic regatta off Los Angeles in 1983, they were able to prevail in the association's internal Olympic qualification against Hagen and Hösch.

At the 1984 Olympic Regatta , US sailors William Earl Buchan and Steven Erickson won three daily ratings and clearly won. Griese and Marcour were disqualified in the first race and could only secure the silver medal behind the USA by finishing third in front of the Italians and Swedes in the last race .

In 1985 Griese and Marcour were part of the successful German team in the Admiral's Cup with the Outsider .
