Alfio Peraboni (born May 8, 1954 in Monza ; † January 11, 2011 ibid) was an Italian sailor .
successes
Alfio Peraboni took part in three Olympic Games with Giorgio Gorla in the Star boat class . In 1980 they took third place in Moscow with 36.1 points behind Valentin Mankin and Aleksandrs Muzičenko from the Soviet Union and the Austrians Karl Ferstl and Hubert Raudaschl , with which they won the bronze medal. Also at the following games in 1984 in Los Angeles , they secured the bronze medal. With 43.5 points, they held their ground just 0.2 points ahead of the Swedish boat and came third behind the Americans William Earl Buchan and Steven Erickson and the Germans Joachim Griese and Michael Marcour . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Peraboni and Gorla missed another podium finish in fifth.
At the World Championships in 1980 in Rio de Janeiro , the two first came third, before winning the title four years later in Vilamoura . In 1985 they also became European champions.
