Men, Girls, Diamonds is a British adventure film from 1949. David MacDonald directed the film, which opened on August 5, 1950 in German-speaking countries.

action

A diamond deposit was discovered in South Africa; the British entrepreneur Stafford Parker is trying to exploit it, while in the nearby settlement of the miners in the course of the hoped-for money blessing, almost anarchic conditions are to be restored. Especially against the quick-tempered Muller, Parker must use wit and strength to curb the old rivalries between the British and the Boers. At the same time, he has to choose between two women, the bar girl Dora Bracken and the middle-class Mary Hart.

criticism

“A series-produced adventure film that transfers the Western scheme to 19th century South Africa,” writes the Lexicon of International Films . "The final duel is not exactly the fight at OK Corral, but is enough as a British alternative to this famous western battle," said Hal Erickson .

Remarks

The film was produced by The Rank Organization to compete with Ealing Studios ' Eureka Stockade , which is also set in the (former) British colonies. It is one of the last films released under the Gainsborough Pictures brand . The film is often classified as a western .
