The house Märkische Straße 11 in trough -Süd, the northern portion of the Herner local part Eickelmann , is under preservation stationary monument . The building, located approximately in the middle of Märkische Strasse (on its south side), was built in 1927 as a residential and commercial building according to a design by the architectural office Revermann and Gobrecht and served as the administrative headquarters of the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse (AOK) Wanne-Eickel.

The four-storey clinker brick building , executed in the expressionist style, has a street frontage of a good 19 meters and a depth of around 15 meters; the floor area covers 295 m². On the ground floor there is the entrance area on the left, with the risalit staircase above, which strongly accentuates the upper floors of the building . While the ground floor is arranged in two groups in two groups, each with three rectangular and pointed arched windows , the first and second floors have eight tall rectangular windows arranged in pairs; one pair to the left of the stairwell and three pairs to the right. While the stairwell has been raised to the third floor, the latter partially jumps back behind the rest of the building. The storeys are subdivided among each other by strongly profiled horizontal clinker strips. In the entrance area there is a foundation stone with the engraving of the year of construction (MDCCCCXXVII). The staircase is in light blue crackle tiles lined.

The entry of the building at Märkische Strasse 11 in the list of monuments of the city of Herne took place on February 13, 1992 (monument no. A 293). The facade and the stairwell enjoy special protection .
