Mårten Handler (born August 26, 1975 in Ytterhogdal ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier and biathlete .

Mårten Handler has been a cross-country skier since 1995. His hometown club is Åsarna IK . In Gällivare he took part in the Nordic Junior World Championships and was 34th over 10-kilometer classic and 31st over 30-kilometer freestyle. After that, until 1999 he only competed in lower-class cross-country skiing Continental Cup and FIS races without achieving any results worth mentioning. Towards the end of the 1998/99 season he contested his first race in the Cross-Country World Cup in Falun and was 61st in the 30-kilometer classic. Three years later , Handler achieved his best result in his five individual starts in the World Cup with 37th place in a double pursuit. In 2002 he also won his only FIS race in Funäsdalen , a 33-kilometer classic mass start race. In 2004 he competed in his last international cross-country race.

As a military athlete , Handler first took part in a military ski world championship in 2000 and was 48th in the 15-kilometer freestyle in Saalfelden . In 2001 he was 30th on the track and 45th in the biathlon sprint in Colchester . In 2003 he achieved his best result at this level with eleventh place in cross-country skiing in Rovaniemi . In 2004 a 27th place was added in Östersund.

In biathlon, Handler made his debut outside of military competitions at the beginning of the 2002/03 season in Ål, finishing eighth in an individual. He spent the rest of the season in the biathlon world cup . In his first sprint in Östersund he was 87. The last stop of the World Cup of the season was in Östersund, where he reached 31st place in the sprint in his last race before the World Championships and missed a point gain by just one place. He also achieved his best season result in Östersund, when the place stepped in as a replacement for Pokljuka as the delivery boy for the second World Cup of the season. With Carl Johan Bergman , Björn Ferry and Tord Wiksten finished sixth in the season. Participation in the 2003 biathlon world championships in Khanty-Mansiysk became the highlight of his career . Handler finished 67th in the individual, qualified 44th in the sprint for the pursuit, and finished 45th in the pursuit.
