The Möhnesee is a passenger ship that operates on the Möhnesee in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Soest . The ship was built in 1996 at the Lux shipyard in Mondorf under construction number 141. The operator is Möhneseeschifffahrt GmbH.

construction

The Möhnesee is a catamaran with two decks and a bow hatch for getting on and off. A special feature of the ship is a docking device at the stern for the shuttle boat Körbecke . It is propelled by two MAN diesel engines with 125  kW each on two Schottel rudder propellers . Two diesel generators with 100 kVA each  and an emergency generator with 65 kVA are available for the power supply.

The Möhnesee with a docked shuttle boat

The Körbecke shuttle boat was also built in 1996 at the Lux shipyard under construction number 142 for a maximum of 80 passengers; it is 20 m long, 4.80 m wide and has a draft of 0.70 m. A Deutz diesel engine type BF4M1012 with 49 kW, which acts on a Schottel rudder propeller SRP 50, drives the boat. As with the Möhnesee, entry and exit are via a bow hatch . Since the bridge clearance height for the Möhnesee is too low when the dam is 93 percent full, the shuttle boat picks up the passengers in Körbecke and brings them to the excursion boat.
