Körbecke is the largest district and the administrative seat of the municipality of Möhnesee in the Soest district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

A Theoderikus de Kurbicke was mentioned as one of the witnesses in the foundation deed of the Welver monastery from 1240 . In 1368, Count Gottfried IV sold the County of Arnsberg and thus the town and office of Körbecke to the Archbishopric of Cologne . The city of Soest had lent the ore monastery 3,500 guilders to buy the county. The Archbishop of Trier Kuno von Falkenstein , sede vacante also administrator of Cologne, confirmed the Soestern the hereditary rights in the Arnsberg Forest and awarded them the competence of a simple court or castle court over the court in Körbecke. Archbishop Dietrich II confirmed this in 1414. The court stayed with Soest until the abolition of the archbishopric in 1803 and then went to Hessen-Darmstadt together with the rest of the Duchy of Westphalia .

On July 1, 1969, Körbecke was incorporated into the Möhnesee community.
