Echtrop is a district of the municipality Möhnesee in the Soest district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Echtrop consists mainly of farms and houses and is located on the Haarstrang south of Soest . Until 2014, the »Heckenkamp« inn was located in the former station of the disused Westphalian State Railway . There is now a cycle path on the former railway line. On the hill west of the actual village there are two former military bases of the Canadians and the British. In one of them, the Bundeswehr ( FlaRakGrp 21 ) had a location in the Graf-Yorck barracks until 2004 . The other location has become an industrial park . There is also an ice rink formerly built by Canadian soldiers in a real business park. In September 2015, a central accommodation facility (ZUE) for up to 1,000 refugees was set up on a third of the area of the former Graf-Yorck barracks in the old barracks buildings. The ZUE is operated by the Maltese Aid Service . In November 2015, 400 refugees were housed in the ZUE.

Next to the industrial area is an inn with a more than 250-year-old linden tree, the shepherd's linden . The Schäferlinde and the industrial park belong to the Berlingsen district, which is adjacent to Echtrop .

On July 1, 1969, Echtrop was incorporated into the municipality of Möhnesee.
