Wippringsen is a district of the municipality Möhnesee in the district of Soest , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The place is on both sides of the B 229 between Soest and Delecke, north of the Haarstrang. The east is Büecke west Theiningsen . In a southerly direction, the B229 leads past the Bismarck tower to Delecke .

Johannes Heuschäfer has been the mayor since 2016.

history

The name of the place is derived from a Wigberth = fighting shine or Wigbrand = battle sword. The place is mentioned in documents in 1223 as Wicmaringshusen, 1229 as Wigmaringshusen, 1536 as Wypperingkhiußen and 1565 as Wipperinghausen.

In the Middle Ages, the border between the Electoral Cologne Duchy and the Soest Börde ran north of the village on today's Kreesweg. The road leading through the village connected Soest with Arnsberg .

On July 1, 1969, Wippringsen was incorporated into the municipality of Möhnesee.

Until about 1970 the place was predominantly agricultural. Due to the logistically advantageous motorway connection (Dortmund - Kassel), several businesses have settled in Wippringsen. Additional jobs were created and new living space was needed. A new residential area was created between the old district and the commercial area.
