Architecture and history
The property consists of two half-timbered houses . The east of the two was built in 1680 by the Quedlinburg master carpenter Hans Reule for his own use , based on an inscription HANS RUHLE on the two-story house . On the threshold of the house there is both the decorative element of the pyramid beam head , which was modern at the time of construction , as well as the older forms of the cylinder with notched rosettes .
In the time around 1700 the building was called Zum bloutigen Knie and was already used as a tavern . Next to the house was the cattle gate , a city gate of the Quedlinburg city fortifications.
The building to the west is significantly narrower and was built around 1740. A mezzanine floor is inserted above the doorway of the house .
In 1993 the house was reopened as a hotel and restaurant.
