Rubbish weighing
The Müllverwiegung is a method, the cost of waste disposal to determine equitable. Garbage bins marked with a chip and a weighing device on the garbage truck are required for this. Since the early 1990s, experiments have been carried out in Styria . Some municipalities in Saarland, such as Saarbrücken and St. Ingbert, have been using the technology in practice since 2011, after the conversion in Lebach had already been carried out ten years earlier. The reason for the change was the high costs incurred by the then state-wide disposal company Entsorgungsverband Saar (EVS) , whose contract was terminated at the end of 1999. The Lebach waste disposal association (LAZ) was founded at that time for the newly organized disposal.
The amount of waste could be reduced in all three municipalities. According to the respective administrative staff, this is partly due to a certain amount of waste being avoided, but above all due to better waste separation.
Other municipalities such as Landeck , Heiligenhaus and Monheim am Rhein as well as in the district of Schweinfurt and three other districts in Bavaria have now introduced waste weighing.
