Münsterländer Parklandschaft is the name for the park landscape that is widespread in the Westphalian Bight , a small-scale cultural landscape characterized by agricultural use in the form of pastures, fields and orchards , hedges typical of the region , small wooded areas and lakes. Due to the in Münsterland usual scattered settlement are single-standing distributed in this form in the landscape surface farms, and barns figurines; added some moated castles , Gräftenhöfe, monasteries and small towns. The different room elements are evenly distributed over the surface, the room structures are self-similar, the landscape always shows the same pattern. There are only larger forest areas in the Hohe Mark and Davert . Larger bodies of water are missing as well as pronounced mountain ranges; the Baumberge rise with gentle ridges only around 100 meters above the surrounding plain, their summit heights remain below the 200-meter mark. The proportion of agricultural land is high. In Westmünsterland it is around 70%.

The term park landscape as a trademark of the region is on the one hand identity-creating, on the other hand misleading, because the "park" landscape is not an art product, but an economic area that has emerged over time. The association of an English park is not a recent one. In a monograph from 1923 it says: “But large parts of the Münsterland are still caught up in their old idyll. [The landscape would] if one were to fall under its spell, it would turn out to be a kind of English park ... "

The Regionale 2016 , a structural funding program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for Westmünsterland, has committed itself to the "further development of the Münsterland park landscape" against the background of competing economic, ecological and tourist interests.
