Mūrmuiža (German: Gemauerthof ) is a village in Zemgale in southwest Latvia . The place is located at the confluence of the Vilce brook in the Svēte . In 2006 Mūrmuiža had 225 inhabitants.
history
The place arose around Gut Gemauerthof at a mill. On July 16, 1705 the Battle of Gemauerthof took place, a battle of the Great Northern War between the armies of the Swedish King Charles XII. and the Russian Tsar Peter the Great .
In 1960 a hospital for the disabled was set up here, which continues to exist today as a social station. There is a nature park south of the village.
