The men's gymnastics club 1862 Pfaffenhofen , which consists of 16 departments, has a club history of over 150 years. With over 3,300 members in 16 departments, it is the largest sports club in the district town of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm in Bavaria .

history

Ten years after the death of gymnastics father Friedrich Ludwig Jahn , MTV was founded in 1862, as the neighboring cities of Ingolstadt , Schrobenhausen and Freising had already set a good example. Initially there were only 33 members; nevertheless, a gymnast fire brigade was created in 1862 , which was converted into the Pfaffenhofen volunteer fire brigade in 1865 .

First they did gymnastics on a gymnastics field in the municipal wooden garden. When the chairman Franz Xaver Kunesch took over the management of the club in 1876, the club flourished during the imperial era until the First World War. However, with 23 dead or missing members, this war was a major setback. In 1919, the elderly chairman passed his office into younger hands after 43 years and died a few months later. Adam Katzenmeier was the first member of the board for more than 20 years.

During this time the forest playground was acquired and opened on May 29, 1919 with a forest festival. With this area as a base - it was named "Jahnhöhe" - the MTV was able to develop broadly with the sports of athletics, soccer, fistball and handball. A simple memorial to the fallen has been commemorating the fallen since September 1923. After the political upheavals of the National Socialist era, the Second World War brought an even greater number of victims among its members, 53 dead or missing.

With the permission of the military government, the association was able to begin its post-war era on November 10, 1945 in a first general meeting. The politically burdened board was replaced by the new board member Hans Ritter sen. replaced. 10 years later ASV Pfaffenhofen merged with MTV, which gave football a decisive boost in the club.

With the construction of the club house (1953) on the Jahnhöhe, the ongoing development of this club's own premises with a residential building (1957) and further renovations and new buildings, the club members continued their investments in the club premises with a lot of work. Even a plant based sewage treatment plant had to be built. Today the club's own restaurant in the clubhouse is a popular meeting point and the small hall next to it serves as a hall for general meetings, parties, table tennis and gymnastics.
