Maad is a hamlet in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg , which once belonged to Schmidhausen and with this came to the city of Beilstein in 1971 .

geography

Maad is located in the Swabian-Franconian Forest about three kilometers northeast of Schmidhausen, between Billensbach and Jettenbach on the left bank of the Schmidbach valley, which slopes down from the northeast near Löwenstein to Schmidhausen in the southwest.

history

Drawing from 1686

Maad developed in the 16th century on a cleared pasture area (" Mahd ") in the Schmidbachtal, where day laborers operated modest agriculture. In 1559, in addition to fields, meadows and vineyards, a house with a courtyard was first mentioned. In 1589 two estates are mentioned, one of them as Sölde with the aforementioned house, courtyard and now also a barn, while the other estate was still without a building. Both estates had a total of 16 acres of land, six of which were forested and five acres each were used for agriculture and viticulture. The vintners from Maad used the wine press in neighboring Billensbach. In 1753 there were four hearths in Maad, in 1810 there were 23 residents. The population fluctuated between 16 and 28 people until 1979.

During the implementation of the new administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg , Maad and Schmidhausen were assigned to the Oberamt Marbach in 1810 .

The hamlet has always been part of Schmidhausen and shares its history, so it also came to Beilstein in 1971.
