Machniwka ( Ukrainian Махнівка ; Russian Махновка Machnowka ) is a village in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast Vinnytsia with about 3400 inhabitants (2004).

The village, founded in 1410, was called Komsomolske between 1935 and 2016 . The village lies on the bank of the Hnylopjat , a 99 km long tributary of the Teteriv and is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in Kryschopil district , which also includes the villages of Markiwzi ( Марківці ) with about 330 inhabitants, Medvedivka ( Медведівка ) with about 340 inhabitants and Mschanez ( Мшанець ) with about 130 inhabitants and the settlement Sadowe ( Садове ) with about 250 inhabitants belong.

Machniwka is located on the highway M 21 14 km east of Rajonzentrum Koziatyn and 62 km north of the Oblastzentrum Vinnytsia .

Personalities

The Ukrainian prehistorian, ethnographer, professor and political activist Volodymyr Antonovytsch was born here in 1834 .
