Madison is a locality in Lake County , Ohio , United States . At the 2000 census, the population was 2,921.

Geography and traffic

The term "Madison" is sometimes used for the entire Madison Township in the far northeast of Lake County, in which the Madison parish is located. However, there are different administrations for the township and for the community. Only the school district and the fire brigade are common to the two administrative units , the political bodies and the police are separate.

The connection to Interstate 90 enables a quick connection to Cleveland .

history

Although the area of ​​Madison was settled in the late 18th century, the village was not registered until 1867. It is named after the founding father and fourth President of the United States, James Madison .
