Located in the municipality of Volvi and in the regional district of Thessaloniki

Madytos has been a parish in the Volvi municipality in the southeast of the Thessaloniki regional district since January 1, 2011 . Before the Kallikratis reform , Apollonia was an independent community. The seat of the former municipality was the place Nea Madytos . The municipality was named after the ancient city of Madytos on the Gelibolu peninsula . Greek refugees from there fled to Lake Volvi and founded the place Nea Madytos.
