biography

Iljans' first success as a ski crosser was winning the silver medal at the Winter X Games in 2001 . In the following years she came second and third twice at this event, but never won. She made her debut in the Freestyle World Cup on November 30, 2002 in Tignes , where she won the first ski cross World Cup race in history. On January 18, 2003 the second World Cup victory followed in Laax , in the discipline classification she was narrowly defeated by the French Valentine Scuotto .

In the winter of 2003/04 Iljans stood on the podium four more times, one of which was the winner. Two podium places, including one victory, were added in the 2004/05 World Cup season. At the 2005 World Cup in Ruka , she only had to admit defeat to the Austrian Karin Huttary in the final and won the silver medal. There were two wins and a third place in the 2005/06 World Cup season, and one win and a second place each in the 2006/07 winter season.

As a result, Iljans was unable to achieve any further World Cup podiums, although she was classified among the top ten several times. She qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics . She finished the Olympic race in Cypress Mountain in 10th place, immediately afterwards she ended her sports career.
