Magdalena Sibylla von Sachsen-Weißenfels (born September 3, 1673 in Halle , † November 28, 1726 in Eisenach ) was a born princess of Sachsen-Weißenfels and -Querfurt from the house of the Albertine Wettins and by marriage Duchess of Saxony-Eisenach .

Magdalena Sibylla was the eldest daughter of Duke Johann Adolf I of Saxe-Weissenfels and his wife Johanna Magdalena of Saxe-Altenburg , daughter of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm II of Saxe-Altenburg .

She is named after her paternal great-grandmother, the Saxon Electress Magdalena Sibylle of Prussia .

Life

In 1708 she was married to Duke Johann Wilhelm von Sachsen-Eisenach , who had previously been married and widowed twice.

Magdalena Sibylla died at the age of 53 and was buried in the princely crypt of the Georgenkirche in Eisenach.

Marriage and offspring

On July 28, 1708, she married Johann Wilhelm, Duke of Saxony-Eisenach in Weißenfels , the son of Johann Georg I, Duke of Saxony-Eisenach from his marriage to Johanetta von Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn . From this marriage she had the following children:

  • Johanna Magdalene Sophie (born August 19, 1710 in Eisenach; † February 26, 1711 there), Princess of Saxony-Eisenach
  • Christiane Wilhelmine (born September 3, 1711 in Altenkirchen; † November 27, 1740 in Idstein), Princess of Saxony-Eisenach ∞ Karl, Prince of Nassau-Usingen
  • Johann Wilhelm (born January 28, 1713 in Marksuhl, † May 8, 1713 in Eisenach), Prince of Saxony-Eisenach

After Magdalena Sibylla's death and the obligatory year of mourning , Johann Wilhelm married Marie Christine Felizitas zu Leiningen-Dagsburg-Falkenburg-Heidesheim , widow of Prince Christoph von Baden-Durlach, for the fourth and last time .
