The MSV 90 Preussen is the soccer department of the main club Magdeburger SV 90 . The department was often referred to as Preussen Magdeburg .

history

On July 9, 1899, F. C. Preussen from Magdeburg was founded. The first chairman of the association was W. Plate. The small Cracauer Anger was chosen as the playground. After one year, the association had 24 members. On July 20, 1902, the name was changed to M. S. C. Preussen 99. The club colors were set with black and white, a black eagle became the club's coat of arms. In addition to soccer, athletics were also practiced, later gymnastics, handball and hockey were added. From October 1922, the club had a two-hectare site, the Prussian sports field .

After 1945, the association on Königsweg, which later became Salzmannstrasse, was initially dissolved at the instigation of the Soviet occupying forces. It was replaced by the company sports association (BSG) Krupp-Gruson, which in 1952 became BSG Motor Mitte Magdeburg under the names Eintracht Sudenburg and Stahl Magdeburg . With her strong soccer section she played in the second highest division, the GDR league, from 1952 to 1956. In 1956 the best footballers were taken over into SC Aufbau Magdeburg , which then played in the GDR Oberliga. As a result, Motor Mitte remained inferior for years and was incorporated into the newly founded 1. FC Magdeburg in 1965 . After that, Motor Mitte was only allowed to play national sports football in order not to compete with 1. FC Magdeburg. It was not until 1974 that the company was re-established to focus on performance-oriented football, and after five years BSG Motor Mitte was promoted to the Magdeburg district league in 1979. After the immediate relegation to the district class, promotion to the district league was achieved again in 1982/83. Motor Mitte finished the last district league season under the direction of the GDR Football Association in 12th place.

In 1990 the BSG was converted into the registered club Magdeburger SV 90 and rose in 1992 under coach Rainhard Gregor in the then regional league. In 1995 he was relegated to the state league.

On April 21, 1997, the club under its president Heinrich Sonsalla took on the new club name MSV 90 Preussen . With coach Rolf Wagenknecht, the Prussians were promoted to the association league in 2001 and have occupied top places ever since. In 2005, the state cup final between the Prussians and VfB Sangerhausen took place in the Paul Greifzu Stadium in Dessau . In the end, the Prussians won 4-2 on penalties and won the Saxony-Anhalt State Cup for the first time. Thus Prussia was qualified for the DFB-Pokal competition 2005/06 and met the first division Arminia Bielefeld , which they lost 3-0. Two years later, MSV qualified for the state cup final for the second time, but lost 3-0 against the 2nd team of 1. FC Magdeburg. In 2008, the former 1. FC Magdeburg player Dirk Hannemann took over as coach at MSV. Under him, the club reached second place in the Association League Saxony-Anhalt in 2012 . Still, they parted ways after the season. The Sudenburg team signed up Steffen Rau as a new coach, who was still a coach at Magdeburg FFC in the preseason . After MSV Preußen had reached third place in the association league in 2014/15, the parent club Magdeburger SV withdrew its first team from play in 1990 due to irreconcilable financial differences with MSV Prussia.

Since the 2019/20 season, the club has formed a syndicate with the neighboring FC Zukunft Magdeburg in the men's area. The two teams compete under the name SG FC Zukunft / MSV 90 Preussen in the ninth-class city league Magdeburg.
