Steffen Rau (born March 27, 1970 ) is a German soccer coach .

Career

Rau completed the football teacher training of the DFB in 2006 . From 2008 he first coached the second division women of the Magdeburg FFC , then Preussen Magdeburg and SV Irxleben. He also worked as a coach instructor at the Saxony-Anhalt Football Association .

For the season 2015/16 Rau took over in the Bundesliga ascended women's team of Werder Bremen . In the premier season in the House of Lords, he could not prevent the team from direct relegation. After Rau had led the team to first place in the 2nd Bundesliga North in the 2016/17 season and thus to direct promotion and the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup , his contract was not extended.

On January 22nd, 2018 Rau became assistant coach at Hamburger SV under Bernd Hollerbach . On March 12, 2018, Hollerbach and Rau were released after three draws and four defeats, as a result of which HSV had slipped seven points behind the relegation place to 17th place in the table eight game days before the end of the season.
