Magic Life is the fourth studio album by the Austrian band Bilderbuch . It was published on February 17, 2017 and achieved gold status in Austria. The first single from the album was released at the end of August 2016, the track Bungalow reached number 8 in the Austrian charts and was thus the group's best-selling single number to date.
reception
The reception of the album tended to be positive. Manuel Berger from the e-zine laut.de recognized two different musical tracks on the Austrian album: "On the one hand towards trash and cloud rap heaves, on the other towards cerebral progressiveness". According to him, the work is a break with conventions "without slamming the door completely".
The Gap compared Magic Life with Falco 's second album Junge Roemer and commented critically: “Falco's» Junge Romer «was not celebrated as much as» Einzelhaft «because it experimented in more directions. And if you try, you also get some things wrong ”. Nevertheless, the editor responsible for the review, Theresa Ziegler, described it as "probably one of the most influential albums of 2017".
Daniela Derntl of FM4 describes Magic Life summarized as follows: "Musically make a picture book on there, where they" have stopped Schick shock ". They give their sound another highly potent infusion of glam pop, cloud rap, funk rock and groove. Keen to experiment, they push the idea of making new music without compromise. "Magic Life" sounds more sophisticated and more homogeneous than its predecessor. The greatest reference next to Falco and Kanye West is unmistakably the Prince who died last year ”.
Decoupling
So far, five singles have been released from the album, each of which has a music video published on the band's YouTube account, in the case of Tell your girls I'm back in town and I ♥ Stress, however, only so-called lyric videos . Shortly after the album was released, all of the remaining tracks were uploaded to YouTube.
