Magne Thorleiv Rønning

Magne Thorleiv Rønning (born April 5, 1982 ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Magne Thorleiv Rønning made his international debut at the Junior World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk . Here he was 13th in the sprint and 14th in the pursuit. The following year he started again at the Junior World Championships in Ridnaun , but this time without any notable results. At the beginning of the 2002/03 season Rønning made his debut in the European Cup in Ål, Norway . He finished fourth here in the individual and third in the sprint. Also in the following season Rønning started in the European Cup. The highlight of the season was participation in the military world championship. In the patrol run he won the bronze medal with the second Norwegian relay team led by Anstein Mykland , Hans Martin Gjedrem and Kristen Skjeldal . The following season, 2004, brought Rønning's debut in the biathlon world cup . In a sprint in Östersund , he finished 72nd. A year later he won his first World Cup points in the same position as 25th in the sprint and 16th in the pursuit. The 16th place is his best so far in the World Cup. Rønning won a European Cup sprint race in Geilo in 2004 , in Osrblie in 2008 with the Norwegian relay and two silver and two bronze medals at Norwegian championships.

He ended his career in the 2008/09 season in order to be able to take care of his family and his farm.
